Classic and Romantic String Quintets
Consortium Aurora Borealis greets the New Year in style on January 10 with a concert of sublime Classic and Romantic String Quintets. Thrill to the rich sound of two violas in the inner voices. Breathtaking String Quintet Opus 111 by Romantic-era Brahms stuns with its rich symphonic texture, dramatically assertive cello opening, and its lively Hungarian Czardas finale.
There will be a ballot draw at intermission for a pair of concert tickets to the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra’s performance of the stunning Mozart Requiem, taking place on Friday, March 6, 7:30 PM at St. Paul’s United Church.
The concert is generously sponsored by Robin Smith, Associate Wealth Advisor: CIBC Wood Gundy.

By Locatelli we’ll include a dazzlingly-virtuosic violin concerto and a dramatic concerto grosso. Vivaldi’s vigorous Op. 3, No. 11 with Katie Stevens and Peter Cosbey, Concerto RV 519 for two violins, and a concerto for four violins round off an exciting evening.

About the Play
Based on Dickens’ 1843 holiday classic, this Canadian-penned 2015 adaptation follows the timeless journey of Ebenezer Scrooge, the miser who learns - through a night of ghostly encounters - that “every man has the power to do good.”
With visits from Jacob Marley, the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, and beloved characters like Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit, Fezziwig, Fan, Fred, and Belle, this retelling offers a few new scenes, some good laughs and delightful surprises.
It’s a fresh, lively take on a cherished tale perfect for audiences of all ages.
Produced by special arrangement with the playwright.

About Sam Convey
Sam Convey is a queer romantic poet from Northwestern Ontario, raised in the traditional territory of Fort William First Nation, colonially known as Thunder Bay.
After obtaining their degree in English Literature and History, Sam learned to communicate best through visual art and poetry. Sharing artistic expression within her community quickly evolved into a passion project, leading to a series of published poetry collections, speaking at local events, and assisting in the coordination of poetry-based workshops for writers.
Sam's most recent collection of poetry, I Kill the Bird Quietly, alongside her previous, Until I Feel Like My Own Mother, work to shed light on the life lived with post-traumatic stress outside the walls of true community support.
Sam's work can be found local to Thunder Bay at Entershine Bookshop, and online at @sunsand.roses on Instagram.
