CONSORTIUM AURORA BOREALIS CONCERT SAT. MAR. 20, 2027
Glories of the High Baroque
Enjoy a stirring concert of double concertos by Bach, Vivaldi, and 18th-century Czech and Italian contemporaries. Soloists Colleen Kennedy (oboe), William Sirois (violin), and Eric Li (bassoon) perform, backed by our fine local string ensemble and harpsichord. We’ll hear Bach’s Concerto in D minor for violin and oboe, RV 1060R, later arranged for two harpsichords, plus Vivaldi’s Concerto in G major for oboe and bassoon, RV 545. We introduce two Baroque works we just discovered: a double concerto for oboe and bassoon by Bohemian composer Reichenauer, and the lively Concerto in D major for violin, bassoon and strings by the Italian Cattaneo, influenced by Vivaldi. By Venetian Albinoni, we will hear some short sinfonias for strings.
There will be a ballot draw at intermission for a special prize.
This concert is generously sponsored by Saverio Veltri, TD Wealth.
