All I Want Is All of It: Whitehorse

All I Want Is All of It is an album that makes you want to listen over and over. It’s Americana folk-meets-bluegrass-meets-bittersweet nostalgia, and it’s absolutely stellar. The lyrics on each of the 11 tracks stand out, with their clever yet mystifyingly poetic reflections on love and life in the modern world. The actual instrumentals are even better. Throughout the album, the lead guitars navigate their way from a distinctly country sound, with southern twang and intricate picking, to a more classic rock crunch, masterfully blending the two genres. Favourites off the album include “See The Light” and “Lighthouse,” which are both audiophile heaven. Each has these movie soundtrack-esque echoing guitar progressions, mellow lead melodies, and super sweet vocals that’ll just wash over you. The more bluegrass tunes like “Please Tell the Stars” are classic bluegrass and easy listening, with jangly guitar and vocals that feature a slight southern drawl. With all its southern (Ontario) charm, I truly cannot recommend this album more.
