Music-lovers in 23 communities across the province, including Thunder Bay, will get the chance to enjoy a live, free concert featuring some of Ontario’s – and Canada’s – brightest musical talents. The series, named ONtour, will help provide the soundtrack to the summer of 2017 and Ontario’s 150th.

ONtour will showcase some of Ontario’s brightest musical talent and enhance its reputation as one of the most vibrant, diverse, live music venues in the world. The event is free, rain/shine, and open to music-lovers of all ages. The Thunder Bay concert will take place during Live on the Waterfront at Marina Park on Wednesday, August 9 from 6-9 pm and feature Toronto-based reggae fusion band Magic!, rapper Kardinal Offishall and Cree rock band Midnight Shine.

“Music is magic – able to cross generational, cultural, and linguistic boundaries,” said Eleanor McMahon, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “ONtour is an opportunity for people from all walks of life to share in this communal experience, to build community pride, and to create cherished memories for years to come.”

ONtour will provide the soundtrack for the Summer of ’17, stopping in more than 20 communities across the province and showcasing some of Ontario’s brightest musical talent. From Peterborough to Blind River, from Ajax to Kenora, from Hamilton to Sudbury, audiences will have the opportunity to attend a free concert featuring at least three acts. More than 50 Ontario artists will be part of the ONtour Concert Series and approximately 80,000 people are expected to attend the free concerts across the province.

“The ONtour Concert at Live on the Waterfront adds another sensational feature to the best summer events season Thunder Bay has ever seen,” said Ash Young – Cultural Development & Events Supervisor. “We are thrilled to be able to partner with ONtour to bring Ontario talent of this caliber to Thunder Bay this summer.”

Live on the Waterfront is presented by Ontario Power Generation and runs every Wednesday evening at Marina Park from July 12 to August 30. More Live on the Waterfront information is available at: thunderbay.ca/live, or follow the City of Thunder Bay Culture & Events on Facebook to stay up to date with events.
