From its inception in 1930, the mandate of the Fort William Male Choir has been to “promote interest in male chorus singing and…to foster interest in the Lakehead musical culture.” Over eight decades later, the group is still going strong and this weekend they will perform their 85th annual Christmas concert. The shows are set for 8:00 pm at the TBCA on Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1. This year, the choir has selected a “show tune” theme, featuring songs from “South Pacific” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” and guest soloist Nicole Walter-Rowan. If you are hoping for more contemporary and classic songs, don’t despair because the show will open with a more traditional set and then progress to the show tunes. The second set will feature a milieu of traditional and not-so-traditional Christmas songs.

Proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Thunder Bay branch of the Prostate Cancer Canada Network to help raise awareness of Prostate Cancer. Tickets are $30 and available at the TBCA, from choir members and at http://fwmc.ca/
