Wires: Kenzie B

Kenzie B is a man of many bands of many genres, but it is really in his solo projects where the full extent of his characteristic chaos is unleashed. By no measure has he ever been a stranger to strangeness, satire, and absurdist art, but this latest EP, Wires, might just take the cake. The artist has always incorporated pop culture and current events into his works, and as such inputs get consistently weirder and weirder, so does his music. Wires reads like a last-straw response to a factioning, ouroboric culture, mirroring the insanity of the present day through the medium of the EP’s alternative-electronic-noise genre. The instrumental titular track, “Wires,” can be likened to legends like Death Grips, a sound defined by such traits as rapidity, bluntness, drumline, and an atmospheric overall vibe. “Frankfurt” is where Kenzie B’s in-your-face, ironic humour comes into play: the real-life surrealism that is modernity, put on full display in one piano-smashing, industrial song. All in all, Kenzie B’s Wires is a unique and stimulating listen, and definitely deserves your streams.
