The beaming lights, the ecstatic energy of the fans, and the pounding of the drums in your chest are only some of the sensations you can expect at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium on January 17, when Thunder Bay’s own Lockyer Boys—brothers Will and Charlie Lockyer—return home for their first headlining show, Locals Only.
“This is a huge one for us,” Charlie says. “It’s been on our list for a long time.” The duo hopes to make January 17 unforgettable. “We want to make an experience,” says Will. “We just want everyone to forget about life, and feel good in the moment.” Local acts Luke Warm and The Cold Ones, EZRA, and Videostar will also perform.
Known for their indie-pop hits “DRIVE!” and “Surfing in L.A.,” the Lockyer Boys share how they built their career from playing to 10 people to performing for thousands across North America. “For years and years now, we’ve just been working at getting every show bigger than the last,” Charlie says. Headlining for 1,500 fans at the TBCA marks their biggest stage yet.
Despite working with top-tier songwriters who have penned hits for Justin Bieber and Kelly Clarkson, the brothers stay grounded. “When we leave Thunder Bay, we spend most of our time talking about Thunder Bay,” Will says.
Their message to the city? “Thunder Bay has a lot to celebrate [...] and what better way than to put on a show with four local acts?” says Will. “Put on a spectacle for the people,” Charlie adds.
