While nobody wants to discuss the end of summer just yet, there is a date everyone will want to keep clear on their calendars. Earlier today, Wake the Giant announced the impressive 2022 music festival lineup and it definitely does not disappoint.
Taking the stage on September 17 are Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace, iconic DJ Steve Aoki, and the 90s hits group Aqua. Also performing will be Neon Dreams, Crown Lands, Digging Roots, Aysanabee, and Grammy-nominated drum group Young Spirit Singers.
“I am just so grateful to have everyone here, especially the students, at the launch today,” says Greg Chomut, festival organizer. “The students being with us today is what we have always wanted because they are who we are doing this for.” Students from Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School helped unveil the star-studded festival lineup by creating a poster using spray paint.
The Wake the Giant Music Festival was created back in 2019 as a community-driven event that brings together hundreds of Indigenous youths to Thunder Bay from Northern remote communities. This annual event brings culture, music, and festival fans together for an incredible day filled with talent.
Wake the Giant will take place at Marina Park with gates opening at 12 p.m. Tickets for the event are selling fast at wakethegiant.ca. Organizers have announced that VIP tickets are sold out; tier 1 tickets are available for $120 while tier 2 ($135) and tier 3 ($150) will be available starting on September 16. Tickets for children age 11 and under are free.
