Story and Photos by Ryan Vance (age 11)
The Kangaroo Math Competition is a math contest that is held in over 51 countries throughout the world. Over 6,000,000 students participate. The competition was held in the Ryan Building at Lakehead University on March 20. Boys and girls from grades one to twelve can entered the competition.
When I entered the room, the kids looked like they were concentrating. I liked the fact that the test questions were all multiple choice and the kids also got puzzles as a participation award (I got one too!). There was a parents’ waiting room with coffee and they could also do a test if they wanted to!
The winners will be given medals after all the results are in. I want to give it a try next year because it looked like fun.
