The City of Thunder Bay’s Recreation and Culture Division is looking for public input to help select the films that will screen during the 2015 Movie Nights in the Park Family Series.

The Family Series begins Thursday, August 13, and will continue for the next four Fridays (August 21 and 28, and September 4 and 11).

“Movie Nights in the Park has proven to be a very popular event for Thunder Bay residents,” said Laura Montgomery, recreation & culture programmer. “Not only do the screenings regularly draw large, enthusiastic crowds, but the survey we run to help select the films generates a lot of responses. “We’d like to thank our residents for their continued support of this event, and we look forward to another successful Family Series.”

The 2015 Family Series survey can be accessed through thunderbay.ca/movienights. For the survey, participants are asked to select five films they’d like to see on the outdoor big screen during the Family Series; respondents can also enter a film that isn’t on the list for consideration.

The survey results will be used as a guide, and the Recreation and Culture Division will do its best to get the most-requested films. The final selections, however, are subject to availability and suitability.

Voting closes at 4 pm on July 15, and the final Family Series film lineup is expected to be announced at the beginning of August.

Admission to Movie Nights in the Park is free, and film screenings start at dusk (about 9 pm). Moviegoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, and to arrive early, as there is no reserved seating. Concessions are available. The City will also screen locally and regionally-produced films prior to the features during each Movie Nights in the Park event.
