The Can-Am Police-Fire Games are coming to Thunder Bay from July 16-24. An Olympic-style sporting event for law enforcement officers and firefighters from across Canada and the United States sees athletes competing in a wide range of events, including archery, basketball, hockey, biking, golf, track and field, and softball, as well as the popular Toughest Firefighter Alive and Toughest Competitor Alive competitions, and, of course, a chili cook-off. The games kick off with an Opening Ceremonies Festival on July 17 at Marina Park—a free, family-friendly event featuring food trucks, a first responder booth, children’s activities, and entertainment by local favourites Poor Young Things.

For details, check out the insert in the July issue of The Walleye or visit the games’ website.
