Terror in the Bay Film Festival
Celebrate 10 Years of Thrills, Chills, and Films

For local artist, filmmaker, and festival director Chris Borgo, celebrating all things horror, indie, and thrilling is at the core of Terror in the Bay Film Festival, which is now in its 10th season.
“After attending several film festivals with my own films and seeing how these festivals were run firsthand, it really inspired me to bring a dedicated horror, thriller, and dark niche festival to Thunder Bay,” says Borgo. “Our festival was built by filmmakers for filmmakers to give global, independent horror projects a platform to showcase their work.”
While it says “film festival” in the title, Terror in the Bay doesn’t just celebrate feature, short, and student films, but also welcomes web series, trailers, music videos, and unproduced screenplays to take part and even a chance to win awards such as Audience Choice, Best Ensemble, Best Atmosphere, and Best Director, just to name a few. New this year is a partnership with several film industry companies, including Red Water Entertainment and Terror Films, that will give featured films played at the festival a chance to land distribution to wider audiences.
“This year we have a massive collection of films, showcased over a five-night period—slasher films, horror comedies, psychological horror, supernatural thrillers, and slow burn horror films. We will certainly be screening films from people with local ties to our city.” Looking for a specific film? Check out the schedule at terrorinthebay.com. There are screenings starting at 7 pm each night, including a costume night on October 17.
While the thrills and chills are exciting, Borgo best appreciates this event for the community and the celebration. “As the festival director, I hope that people leave with a deep satisfaction for horror cinema long after the theatre lights come up, and a sense of connection to a passionate community of horror aficionados,” says Borgo. “People should check out our event for multiple reasons: the chance to experience unique independent horror films from around the world, attend live Q&A with filmmakers, and visit our horror themed marketplace with local vendors.”
