Red River Dogs
The Texas dog
Where Every Weiner is a Winner

When the location that was previously Cathy’s Discount on Red River Road came up for grabs, chef Fred Sorrell knew he wanted to get in on it. Although he initially needed a larger prep kitchen for his business, Bread & Butter, he simply couldn’t resist the call of the walk-up window. Thus, Red River Dogs was born, and it’s already been a hit with young and old alike!
“With the take-out window at the new location, we knew we had to do something late-night, quick, and easy,” Sorrell says. “Good comfort food should be quality and come with ease, and we are excited to bring that to the community.”

The dogs are named after cities, reflecting the unique culinary traditions and local flavours of those regions. The Chicago-style hot dog comes with mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, and sport peppers that are specifically sourced for true authenticity. Coney lovers will dig the Detroit Coney dog with its savoury, meaty topping on a steamed bun. The Texas dog, teeming with chili, melty cheese, and sliced jalapeños on a toasted bun, will not disappoint. The most unique frankfurter, quite frankly, is the Seattle dog, topped with cream cheese, caramelized onion, grainy mustard, and a pinch of everything bagel seasoning—the generous spread of cream cheese adds a rich texture to every bite.
But that’s not all! Breakfast sandwiches are on the menu from 9 to 11 am daily. Hungry passers-by can have theirs made with a choice of bacon or homemade sausage, and can pick up some delicious coffee from Rose N Crantz Roasting Co. as well.

Stay tuned for further updates from this hard-working entrepreneur! Smash burgers will be added to the menu very soon (folks may remember Sorrell’s burger pop-ups with that amazing “crave” sauce, via his other business, The Neighbours Cooking). There’s even talk that the upstairs will be soon opening its doors as an event venue for various types of gatherings.
Whether you’re a hot dog aficionado or just looking for a delicious bite, come see the friendly crew at Red River Dogs from 9 am to 10 pm Sunday to Thursday, and on Friday and Saturday until 2 am.
