The fourth annual Novemburger campaign has come to a close, and the United Way of Thunder Bay is pleased to report that this year’s campaign was bigger and better than ever before.

From November 1 to 30, over 11,500 burgers were sold in support of Novemburger. With $2 from each burger sold being donated to the United Way, the organization will see over $23,000 in donations come in that will go toward supporting local individuals and families in need.

“We’ve had the best Novemburger yet in 2022, and we couldn’t be more grateful for all the support,” says United Way of Thunder Bay CEO, Albert Brulé. “Thanks to the hard work and creativity of participating local restaurants, and the dedication of loyal Novemburger fans, it’s been an incredibly successful month. Not to mention our amazing ambassadors who helped spread the word, sharing their favourite burgers on social media and promoting the campaign!”

The Novemburger campaign can bring the Midas touch to local eateries for a month and, every year, two restaurants are given special awards for their Novemburger creativity, tastiness, and popularity. This year, the honour of Most Novemburgers Sold was awarded to Prospector Burger Barn who sold a total of 3,189 burgers—a record number since the event launched in 2019.

Says Beefcake’s owner, Derek Lankinen, “It means so much to us that Thunder Bay came out all month to show their support for Novemburger, and named us Top Novemburger for the third year running! We do our best to create a burger that we know our patrons will enjoy, while also coming up with something fresh and creative. To see how something as simple as a burger can make such an impact on the community, and how it can help support individuals and families in need…that’s what makes Novemburger so special.”

“Providing access to basic needs, like food, is critical right now,” says United Way of Thunder Bay’s Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement, Jodie Wilson. “We are doing everything we can with our partners to ensure no one is hungry and everyone has access to nutritious food when they need it. Our supporting eateries are just as passionate as we are about building a community that’s united against poverty, and we couldn’t ask for better participation from the Thunder Bay community.”
