The Recreation & Culture Division announced another fantastic line-up of live entertainment for the 2013 Summer in the Parks concert season today. Eight outdoor concerts are planned featuring new acts, as well as returning favourites. Concerts take place at the Festival Area at Prince Arthur’s Landing on the Main Stage under the band-shell on Wednesdayevenings from 6 to 9 pm, beginning June 26.

“Summer in the Parks has become one of the most prominent community events throughout the summer that the whole family can enjoy,” said Jean-Paul De Roover, Summer in the Parks Coordinator. “We have worked with our Advisory Committee this season to bring a total of 23 acts of various styles and genres to the stage. They are sure to please audiences of all ages and tastes.”

The stage will come to life on June 26 with Loose Cannon (Funky Blues) and the Mark Potvin Blues Band featuring the Potvin Horns (Blues). The series continues with old favourites and up-and-comers throughout the summer, including some out-of-town guests.

In addition to great music, Summer in the Parks evenings feature children’s activities, free draws and a variety of on-site concessions. There will also be an artisan market with local artisans displaying and selling art in the park during the concert series.  ‘Caricatures for Charity’ will also be returning to raise money in support of Shelter House.

Concert-goers are encouraged to take advantage of the “Summer in the Parks Shuttle Bus” that will be running from the Court Street Parkade and traveling through the downtown core. Riders can flag down the Summer in the Parks Bus anywhere along the route and will be dropped-off at the Festival Area.  There will be no general parking around the Festival Area, but limited accessible parking will be available with a valid permit.
