On June 21, to coincide with the summer solstice, people across Canada will celebrate National Aboriginal Day – a special day to celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in Canada.
With National Aboriginal Day 2015 falling on Father’s Day weekend, the National Aboriginal Day committee will present the National Aboriginal Day Men’s Recognition Award, recognizing men for honouring and demonstrating the teachings of the Seven Grandfathers: wisdom, love, respect, bravery, honesty, humility, and truth.
All National Aboriginal Day events will be held at Animkii Wichu – Thunder Mountain at Fort William First Nation beginning with live music on Saturday and ending with closing ceremonies on Sunday.
