Kitchener based, JUNO award-winning blues guitarist and singer-songwriter Steve Strongman kicked off his summer tour on May 28 and will be stopping in Thunder Bay on July 10 at the all-Canadian lineup at the Blues Fest.
Known for his infectious sound and rave reviews, his mastery of guitar on his Gibson 335, and dynamic songwriting and vocal skills, Strongman is revered as a top Canadian blues musician. Attesting to his blues prowess, he has won a collection of awards, including the 2009 Hamilton Music Award for Blues Album of the Year, the 2011 Maple Blues Award for Guitarist of the Year, three 2012 Maple Blues Awards, the 2013 JUNO Award for Blues Recording of The Year, and was nominated for a JUNO in 2015 for Blues Album of The Year.
Popular within in the Canadian festival scene, he has performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, Kitchener Blues Festival and the Tremblant International Blues Festival. He has released four LPs to date includingHoney (2007), Blues In Colour (2010), A Natural Fact (2012), and most recently Let Me Prove It To You (2015). He’s performed with Canadian musicians Roy Clark, Jeff Healey, and Tal Bachman. He opened for Buddy Guy in Hamilton in 2009 and supported well-known slide guitar player Sonny Landreth.
