The 3rd Annual Go Green Expo begins today and runs until Sunday at the Sports Dome.

This free green exhibition has partnered with the “Fall Into Winter Show” this year in the hopes of attracting a wider audience. The event features a Kids Area, Local Foods Lunch and keynote speaker on Saturday, along with the ever-popular tradeshow showcasing an array of green products, services and information. There is something for everyone interested in living green.

“This new partnership is a great opportunity to spread the desire to create a cleaner, greener and more beautiful community,” says Mayor Keith Hobbs. “We can all learn something at the event, as well as take in ideas for how to best enjoy our winter season.”

The Go Green Expo is a project of EarthWise® through the City of Thunder Bay, and this year has been coordinated in partnership with EcoSuperior Environmental Programs. The goal of the Expo is to raise awareness of EarthWise® and the Community Environmental Action Plan, as well as provide people with tips, information, and resources on how to create more sustainable lifestyles.

Saturday’s Lunch and Learn features a presentation by Charles Campbell on the “State of the Climate” as well as a Local Foods Lunch for only $20. Charles was trained by Al Gore through The Climate Project and, among many other hats, is President of the Superior Renewable Energy Cooperative. Sweet Pea’s Restaurant will be serving local fare including slow-braised pulled-boar sandwiches, a fall salad and carrot cake. Lunch and Learn tickets are available on-site.

The Expo will take place in the Sports Dome, 141 Northern Ave, on Friday, Sept. 28, 4-9pm; Saturday, Sept. 29, 10am-6pm; and Sunday, Sept. 30, 11am-4pm.
