The inaugural Tour de Kamview takes place the first weekend in February and brings three days of Nordic skiing action to Thunder Bay. Skiers can vie for the yellow jersey by participating in all three events, or just enter the classic or skate events. There are prizes for the male & female yellow jersey winners and age-group and overall prizes for the classic and skate events. Watch for the yellow jersey presentation after each stage of the tour. All participants can look forward to a hot pizza lunch after Sunday’s stage.
The Friday night Sprint Prologue is approximately 1.2 km, with an individual time trial format. Start time is 6:30 pm. There is no fee for the sprints, but you must be registered in the other two events to participate.
The Saturday Classic is comprised of 1.5 km (free to children under 13), 5 km and 10 km events. It’s a mass start at 10 am at the Kamview stadium. Families are encouraged and the event is open to all levels of skiers.
The Sunday Skate/Freestyle is comprised of 5 km, 15 km and 30 km (two laps of 15 km) events. It’s a mass start at 10 am at the Kamview stadium. There will be age group and overall prizes in the 15 and 30 km and prizes for everyone in the 5 km. The weekend winds up with the yellow jersey winner presentations and a hot pizza lunch for all.
