The Thunder Bay Museum is pleased to announce the opening of its summer exhibit entitled, “City Beautiful: The Foundations of Thunder Bay’s Architecture”.
Thunder Bay has great architecture! Almost the entire world of architecture can be seen in our houses, public buildings, businesses and factories. We have examples of styles as varied as Log House, Gothic, Romanesque, Queen Anne, Victorian and Art Deco; all the way to Post Modern, and 21st Century.
This exhibit is designed not only to show the variety of architectural styles that grace our city but also to help you understand how Thunder Bay’s buildings fit into the larger world of architecture. The exhibit includes examples of prominent local buildings – mansions, offices, churches, and houses. What makes one building attractive and another not? This exhibit may help to explain why.
As a special addition, throughout the exhibit are examples of historic Thunder Bay buildings made of LEGO by Kieran Marcus.
