On October 20 at 9:30 am, tune into CBC to catch the Cross Country Fun Hunt (funhunt.ca) featuring Thunder Bay.

With the help of Canadian kids, teen idol Jordan Francis has uncovered Canada’s “funnest” spots and one of them is in our backyard! The series premiered September 15, and the Thunder Bay episode features local fun hunt ambassadors, Stuart and Elizabeth. The ambassadors meet Jordan at the Terry Fox monument and then take him to their family mine to dig for amethyst gems. The kids wrap the day up at Chippewa Park (described as an old fashioned amusement park) with a ride on the merry-go-round and tilt-a-whirl.

Stuart and Elizabeth spend every summer in Thunder Bay with their grandparents, Steve and Lorna Lukinuk, and their aunt, uncle and cousins. The Lukinuk family owns the Amethyst Mine Panorama which is located about 45 minutes east of Thunder Bay.
