From Gujarat with Love
Aroma Bliss Brings the Heat
Review by Susan Pretty, Photos by Adrian Lysenko
Coming from a lineage of chefs—both his father and grandfather worked in the food industry in India—Suresh Prajapati had a dream: to open a restaurant that celebrated his culinary heritage. Prajapati’s vision has now come to life. Alongside partners Uzma Shaikh, Raj Patel, and Jinal Patel, he opened Aroma Bliss last September, and hasn’t looked back.

The name itself is a sensory invitation. “Aroma” evokes the rich, fragrant spices that greet you at the door, while “bliss” promises the comfort and satisfaction of a truly memorable meal. Together, they hint at the warmth, texture, and joy that define the experience inside.
The menu is a treasure trove of delights. Originally from Gujarat, Prajapati brings unexpected gems to the table. The vegetable manchurian, available dry or with gravy, features deep-fried vegetable dumplings that strike a perfect balance between crunch and tenderness. It’s bold, flavourful, and utterly addictive. Then there’s the tandoori chicken—a vibrant red showstopper, authentically cooked in a clay oven. Prajapati presents it sizzling in a cast-iron pan, adding drama and flair to the dish. The chicken boasts a smoky depth and charred edges that only a tandoor can deliver, and is paired with a refreshing mint chutney.
The paneer pasanda is a standout: a delicate cheese “sandwich” filled with a spiced vegetable mixture, bathed in a creamy, aromatic gravy. Prajapati notes that no one else in town offers this dish, calling it “very time-consuming” to make—and it shows in the craftsmanship. And the cheese naan arrives steaming from the tandoor, buttery and stuffed with molten Amul cheese, a beloved dairy brand from Gujarat. It’s indulgent, comforting, and unforgettable.
Aroma Bliss is more than a restaurant—it’s a celebration of tradition, flavour, and the kind
