On October 14th, the Food Security Research Network (FSRN) will host Thunder Bay’s 4th annual World Food Day event at Lakehead University.  World Food Day is a worldwide event designed to heighten public awareness of the world food problem and the plight of the world’s hungry and malnourished, and to encourage people worldwide to take action.  The event will take place in the Agora between 10am and 4pm. The film “Fresh” will be screened at 4pm, also in the Agora.

Students, faculty and the general public are welcome to study educational materials, visit interactive displays, participate in a Hunger Awareness Lunch, and consider opportunities to participate in “Kitchen Table Talks;” discussions aimed at gathering input into Canada’s first National Food Policy: the People’s Food Policy. Table Talks will take place at 10am, 11am and 2pm.

FSRN is also hosting roundtable discussions with Thunder Bay municipal election candidates. Everyone is welcome to attend and hear how candidates view food security issues in our community.  Roundtables will be held at 1 and 3pm.
