Full-Time Employees Acquire Award-Winning Publication
The Walleye Magazine has a new owner (make that three!). With this July marking the 14-year anniversary of the award-winning arts and culture alternative, it’s celebrating with some big news. Today it was announced that employees Adrian Lysenko, Alaina Linklater, and Sidney Ulakovic are now proud new owners.
“Having been the magazine’s editor for almost a decade, I’m thrilled to step into this new role,” says Adrian Lysenko, editor-in-chief of The Walleye Magazine. “We look forward to continuing to showcase Thunder Bay’s amazing arts and culture scene through print and other forms of media.”
Since 2010, The Walleye, has offered a window into the inspiring moments that define our city to 30,000 monthly readers in Thunder Bay, the surrounding area, and Northern Minnesota. “Working in my fifth year at The Walleye, I’ve witnessed the evolution of the local business climate. It’s been a passion of mine to be able to help amplify small businesses,” says Alaina Linklater, director of sales and marketing of The Walleye Magazine. “To continue this work and grow (as a team) is an absolute dream come true. I’m thankful to be a part of Thunder Bay’s wonderful business community, and welcome the change as we embark on the ever-changing world of entrepreneurship.”
With an eye for diversity and inclusion, The Walleye features artists, musicians, and influencers, along with thoughtful social and environmental commentary, that help promote pride of place and acceptance in our community. “Though my time with The Walleye has been shorter, I’m honoured to have the opportunity to run the magazine alongside my partners who have played an integral role in making it such a success,” says Sidney Ulakovic, creative director of The Walleye Magazine. “I’m excited to be part of The Walleye’scontinued growth and spending each month connecting with the people we feature who make our community so special.”
The new publishers are also pleased to announce their new office location at 204 Red River Road, (at the corner of St. Paul Street and Red River Road). “Our new space is just around the corner from our first office on St. Paul Street, so it feels like a full circle moment,” Lysenko says. “We’re happy to be back in the heart of downtown Port Arthur.”
