June signals the summer solstice on the 21st and National Indigenous Peoples Day. Locally, there are activities from the 14th to 28th, like the Waniskahtan exhibit—a project to educate and create a greater awareness about the high rates of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and 2-Spirit (LGBTQ2S). Organizers hope the exhibit will be able to be viewed publicly in person at Intercity Shopping Centre.
