The 2013 Bell Motorcycle Ride for Dads – Roar for the Cure will begin on June 15 at the Victoria Inn. In the past 12 years, the event has raised over $740,000. The funds raised support research, treatment and awareness of prostate cancer in Northwestern Ontario and continue to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients. Ten thousand men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year in Ontario and one out of six people are diagnosed with a form of cancer.

With such staggering numbers,  it is not surprising that Thunder Bay motorcyclists want to join the effort to fight prostate cancer. The Bell Motorcycle Ride for Dads awards prizes to people that raise more than $500 in pledges, and those who register before the early bird deadline on May 31. Long time participants say it’s a worthwhile cause and a great opportunity to get together with fellow motorcyclists. Speaking to the power of the gathering in support of this worthy cause, Ted Ciotucha, organizing committee member says “To see all those headlights in your mirrors is a sight like no other. You’ll never be happier.”
