This is a wonderful opportunity to invite you to sell your work and bring customers to your market, gallery and or studio. Please note that this is NOT in COMPETITION but about CONNECTING people to you. 🙂 Please read right to the bottom of the page.
This letter is to invite you to join us at the newly renovated Baggage Building Arts Centre at Prince Arthur’s Landing in Marina Park. We will be operating the Centre through the summer, and are currently negotiating with the City for longer term operations. The Centre has a small gift gallery, which we would like to fill with locally produced handmade items. The plan is to use this gift gallery as a satellite location for your home base and other venues where your creations are available. Our goal is to connect the Centre’s visitors and customers back to the studios, galleries and markets available within the city and region of Thunder Bay.
You are invited to an open house to visit and view the new Baggage Building Arts Centre at the Waterfront on Wed. June 6th from 4pm to 6pm.
To be part of the B.B. Arts Centre Gift Gallery this summer, you must be an individual artist, crafter or creator connected to an existing gallery, market or studio listed on the Handmade in Thunder Bay Art Map or regional equivalent. We anticipate opening the opportunity to the broader community once the longer term operating model is in place. Membership entitles you to; exhibit and sell a small selection of your work at the gift gallery, networking cards to connect visitors to other locations your work is displayed, rent a card rack in the gift gallery for greeting cards, and receive discounts on and table rentals for special event markets at the building.
There will be a special section of the gallery available for individual and group exhibitions. This will be separate from memberships for individual artists.
Fees for June 11th to Sept. 3rd 2012 are:
Membership $84.75 ($75 plus $9.75 HST)
Card rack $33.90 ($30 plus $3.90 HST)
Commission 20% on all work sold. *Note that this fee will go directly back in to operating the Centre on a non-profit basis.
If you are interested in becoming a member, please print the contract fill it out and bring it to us at the store. If you have questions about this venture please contact us and we will address them accordingly. We will begin accepting contracts May 30th on a first come first served basis. This is a great venue with many special events happening in the park to connect to potential customers. We have worked hard to make this a “by the community for the community with the community” venture.
Thank you, The Turtle Girlz Angie Jensen & Lorraine Cull
