Magnus Theatre is excited to announce the dynamic and thrilling cast for the North American Regional premiere of the musical We Will Rock You, featuring the music of Queen with a book by Ben Elton. The play is directed by Thom Currie.

Adam Charles and Jessie Cox, both making their Magnus debuts, will perform the lead roles of Galileo and Scaramouche. Charles’ recent credits include Sky in Mamma Mia! (Theatre St. John’s) and as Marius in Les Miserables (Western Theatre Canada). Cox has appeared in Anne of Green Gables as both Anne (Smile Theatre) and as Diana (Charlottetown Festival), and can be seen as Olga in the feature film Stand Up Man. Gabi Epstein joins them as Killer Queen. Also making her Magnus debut, Epstein has been seen as Fanny Bryce in Funny Girl (Segal Centre), Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors (Rainbow Theatre), and in the original cast of Toy Story: The Musical (Disney).

Amy Sellors as Oz returns to Magnus Theatre, having appeared last season in Here On the Flight Path. Other credits include Patsy Cline in A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline (Stephenvlle Theatre Festival) and numerous productions at the Stratford Festival. Ryan G. Hinds as Britt has been seen as Hedwig in Hedwig and The Angry Inch (Capitol Theatre), Booker T. Washington in Ragtime (Confidential), and in concert with Liza Minelli. Spencer Hari, a favourite on the Thunder Bay theatre scene, makes his professional theatre debut as Khashoggi. Spencer is widely known for his acclaimed concert performances, both solo and with the TBSO, as The Emcee in Cabaret, Man in Chair in The Drowsy Chaperone, and many others.

Completing the cast are Dean Deffett, Jeremy LaPalme, Jade Percival, Matthew Pinkerton, Chelsea Preston, and Alyssa Smith.

Julie Tomaino makes her Magnus Theatre debut as choreographer for We Will Rock You. Her many credits include Crazy For You (Gateway Theatre/Jessie Award winner), Sleeping Beauty (Theatre Sheridan), and the television adaptation of Beaches (Lifetime) starring Idina Menzel. Assistant choreographer Robert Allan’s recent work includes Pride and Joy and Anne of Green Gables (Smile Theatre), Grand Hotel (Theatre Sheridan), in addition to numerous credits as a performer. Danny Johnson, last seen in Mama’s Country Record Collection, serves as musical director.

Not only is the Magnus production of We Will Rock You the inaugural production of the 2017-2018 season, it is also the North American regional theatre premiere of the hit production that captivated audiences in the West End, Toronto, and on the First National North American Tour in 2013-2014.
