Vitality. Defined as the state of being strong and active, the word captures the focus of one of Thunder Bay’s newest local food stores. Opened this summer by Scott and Mandy Coppin, Vitality Natural Food Market offers a wide variety of products for healthy eating and living. The idea for the store came from their own struggle to feed their young and active family with healthy foods that were organic, tasty, and nutrient-rich. After tiring of hunting down the products they wanted, they decided to make it possible themselves.

Mandy has taken the reins on running the store and brings her experience and passion for supporting others to have a healthy lifestyle to Vitality. The team has created a space that is bright and beautiful and full of a large array of local, organic, and healthy products. The store also boasts a wonderful juice and smoothie bar that blends up organic fruits and veggies into delicious and healthy afternoon snack (try the mango, ginger, and strawberry). Vitality emphasizes personalized customer service and is always open to finding a specific item, no matter how small. Because of this commitment their shelves are stocked with everything from gluten-free, vegan, and raw food items to local butters, honey, and a fabulous assortment of tasty snack foods.

With a focus on providing locally sourced products and making it easier for them to go from farm to table, Vitality also has fresh produce from Thunder Bay farmers, free range eggs, and baking supplies. And because sometimes you just need to throw a frozen pizza in the oven, you will find a healthy version in their frozen foods section next to local beef and some dairy-free ice cream, if that’s your fancy. In addition to promoting healthy eating, Vitality also offers an eco-friendly line of household cleaning supplies and a line of cruelty-free health and beauty products. With something for everyone, Vitality Natural Food Market is a fresh, welcome addition to the city’s south side.
