Street photography isn’t just about photographing people. From cityscapes to urban decay, there are so many different things to photograph in any city you live in. You just have to know HOW to look for it.
We will start in my studio where I will cover the camera basics to get you started. I will then show you a variety of techniques and tips moving forward. The second part of the workshop takes place outside where all the participants will join me on a photowalk in the city streets. During the walk, I’ll show you how to look differently at everyday scenes.
You will learn the importance of photography rules, but also how to break them. Also how the time of day and different types of weather can great influence city scenes. We will also discuss and apply
Remember, photography isn’t about trying to copy someone else. The goal of this workshop is to develop your own style. I’m just going to point you in the right direction. Even though I have over 15 years of photography under my belt, I’m still learning every day. It’s a fun, never ending process, and one everyone should embrace.
Participants should have access to their own camera. A DSLR or Mirrorless camera is recommended, but a phone works just as well. You should also have a basic understanding on how to operate your camera. That’s it!
Otherwise, just show up with a willingness to learn and proper dress attire for the weather.
After taking this workshop, you should have learned how to use your camera more effectively and simple things to greatly enhance your photography. You will also learn how to see things differently, not only when you are taking photos, but also when you are not. Lastly, you should come away with a clearer vision of which direction you would like to take your photography!
