Explore the healing properties of naturally dyed textiles in this workshop hosted by Sister Mollusk and Lee-Ann Chevrette of Boreal Forest Teas!
We will work with a variety of plants in learning about natural dyes that are known not just for colour, but for physical and medicinal qualities as well. This workshop will focus on the bundle dyeing method, in which colour is transferred from plant to cloth through steam to create beautiful abstract patterns. We’ll cover the fundamentals of natural dyeing, including fabric preparation, foraging and finding dyes, and tips for caring for your naturally dyed goods.
Participants will put these techniques into practice in dyeing their own 25″ x 25″ silk scarf/bandana to take home.
