CONSORTIUM AURORA BOREALIS CONCERT
TUESDAY, December 10, 2019
Consortium Aurora Borealis presents “Festive Music for Trumpet and Organ”, a concert of music for Advent and Christmas, as special guests from Toronto bring us the glorious sounds of organ and brass. Paul Sanvidotti performs on reproductions of various intriguing Baroque trumpets, including a rare tromba da tirarsi. Thomas Fitches plays the St. Paul’s United Church magnificent Casavant pipe organ.
The music, from the Baroque to the present, includes works by Fantini, Viviani, Torelli, Buxtehude, J.S. Bach, Denis Bédard, and others. The magical sounds of the St. Paul’s United Church Handbell Choir performing seasonal selections, directed by Diana Hannaford-Wilcox, adds charm. There will be a short carol sing-along, and the church will be decorated for Christmas.
TUESDAY (not Saturday), December 10, 2019, 8:00 p.m., at St. Paul’s United Church, 349 Waverley Street, Thunder Bay, with an informative pre-concert talk and demonstration of instruments by the guest performers at 7:30 p.m.
