Back to the Source: A Metal Trifecta

On March 9, Canadian-based metal band, Beheading Of A King, will join forces with The Afterimage and Take The Earth Beneath Us for a show at Black Pirates Pub. The show is part of their 21-day cross-Canada tour, titled “Back To The Source.”

Hailing from Montreal, Beheading of a King is a five-piece metal/progressive band known for their heavy breakdowns, blast beats and brutal screaming vocals. After releasing their first self-titled EP in 2009, the band came back bigger and louder with their second EP called Quasar which was recorded at Red Dusk studios in Saint-Hyacinthe, QC. Fresh out of Barrie, ON, The Afterimage stormed the gates in early 2012 and have quickly begun to develop a supportive fan-base. With the debut EP Formless, The Afterimage burst into the metal scene spotlight with a full spectrum of heavy musical styles and grooves bound to take hold of any modern metal fan. Formless dons a torrent of technicality, melody and hardcore elements that’ll leave the listener desperately wanting more. Finally, Vancouver’s Take The Earth Beneath Us began writing material in 2010 that mixed elements of metal and hardcore. After several months of preparation, the group entered Rain City Recorders’ studio to create their first release – a five song EP with renowned engineer, Curtis Buckoll. Their style is notable for aggressive, technical riffs, memorable choruses and unforgettable breakdowns. They’ve become known for their high-energy performances with ideal variations of crowd interaction, stage professionalism, eclectic abilities, and musical intensity that have left everyone wanting more.

Opening the show will be Thunder Bay hardcore acts, Tapout and Fragments. Doors open at 10pm, cover is $5 and age of majority is required.
