The Zombie Apocalypse Survival Training Association will be teaming up with Wiggins Productions to host Thunder Bay’s 4th annual Zombie Walk, Saturday, August 29 at Marina Park. Zombie walkers (and their victims) are also invited to the Zombie Rawk after party at Black Pirates Pub (215 Red River Road) for a night of live music featuring local rock bands.
A zombie walk (also known as zombie crawl or zombie mob) is an organized public gathering of people who dress up in zombie costumes and makeup. Participants make their way around the city streets and are encouraged to remain in character as zombies, communicating only in a manner consistent with zombie behaviour. This may include grunting, groaning and moaning calls for brains. Zombie walks are a way for horror movie fans to get together and share their love of zombie culture in a creative and fun environment.
The Walk: Hordes of brain and rib hungry zombies will gather at the Baggage Building Arts Centre in Marina Park next to Bight Restaurant at 7pm. Local makeup artist Ashley Meagher will be on site for pre-walk zombifying. From there, they will make their way through the streets of downtown Port Arthur to the centre of this year’s Ribfest at the OLG casino parking lot on Park Avenue. Walk begins at 8pm. All-ages welcome.
The Rawk: After the walk, participants and on-lookers (both living and undead) are invited to Black Pirates Pub for the Zombie Rawk, an after party of ghoulish proportions. The night will feature live entertainment from local bands, including Rival Town (pop punk), The Bay Street Bastards (Celtic punk), Aviary Kings (space punk), and Keenan Wark (acoustic).
Doors at 10pm, show at 11pm. Cover is $5. Age of majority required. For more information, visit Z.A.S.T.A. and TBshows.com.
