The TBCA was a full house for tonight’s opening ceremonies for the 2011 Special Olympics Ontario Winter Games – a celebration of the power and joy of sport. Highlights included Aboriginal drumming and dancing, performances by Olivia Korkola, Pierre Schryer and Shy-Anne Hovorka – all backed by the TBSO. The audience gave a warm welcome to Dr. Frank Hayden, the founder of the Special Olympics program in Canada and the final performance of the night, a lively rendition of “We are the Champions” gave the athletes a perfect outlet for their excitement.
